Agreed 110%
yes it may be late, but they could make all future characters made in this way....
and start restricting purchases, docking etc according to faction ratings.
yes, it is too late for the big boys, butit will add for the newer players . and make the PC market that much more important
anything to add to the feeling for new players is good

Oh. My. God....
I am getting chills just thinking about that...
THAT - what you have described, is what i was DREAMING of for Eve. If that was the way the game worked i would be living 23/7 on this game :) I would have caffine injected stright into my system...
That is what eve should be. -----

I also agree with Jash... (bandwagon anyone??)
The challenge should be GETTING the ship, or legally piloting it - not actually using it.
once the controls are understood, its all the same - they are all human.
But - there should be faction rating requirements to being allowed to pilot one - and if you are scanned by a faction navy and are in a "illegal" ship, they will open fire :)
So if a Minmatar got a hold of a apocalypse some how - the moment he enters amarr space he would be toast...

To Jash, Sarkos etc...
A way to implement this would be to start to "heightened" the tensions between the empires - have the various "poulaces" complaining about pirates, loss of work to foreigners etc...
so start to introduce the faction requirements...
and if you dont meet the requirements, thats fine, it just means that the local navies will start hunting you.
But if, for example, a "Minmatar" had amarr faction rating of 8.0 (an ammatar??) he would be quite legally allowed to pilot amarr battleships etc.
and this is faction laws - NOT a concord problem. -----

Switch - hell yeah. If we had a game with proper factions acting like real factions - docking rights needed etc, "passport control" at empire entry points (ie, big fleets at the borders to gank you if you are not wanted) docking fees, continuus auction of factory and lab slots, good actually used for thigns in game etc.
i would (as was said by another earlier) by a whole new box and cd and switch in an instant.
this is needed soooooo badly its not funny -----
